The Signs of Midlife Crisis

Posted on 15 February 2010 by Jan Paul

  • Career Change – Comes home and tells every one that he is going to quit from his 25-year career in insurance to open a home business. This is early yet terrifying warning sign of midlife crisis.
  • Reckless Behavior – and possibly widow-making act. It’s when he comes home and tells every one he is going to an adventure. Joining a race, skydiving, or bungee jumping and then says “I don’t want to die without having that little adventure in my life.”
  • Grooming – It’s when he starts panicking when he sees himself in front of the mirror with the dirty looking long hair and ditches quickly in his stylist or barber, buys new suits and man perfumes.
  • Youthlike Behavior – The sudden desire of what youths usually do like excessive drinking, bars, concerts, junk foods and that instant noodles.
  • Figure Conscious – He schedules his self to gym classes and buffing up, watches himself in the mirror and lift something heavy so he can see his muscles bulging.

  • A Sudden Big Spender – He comes home with a brand new motorcycle or a car or maybe you’ll see the 48-inch led TV in your living room. And you found out that he used the money that will last until you were 80 or 90.
  • Flirting – He drops his voice  to an octave, leans and flicks back his highlighted hair and flirts with girls younger than his daughter.
  • Seeking our Firsts – This is when you see him going around social networking sites trying to find his first girlfriend, or trying to play with his bike again, or digs out his old guitar and starts a jam.
  • Irresponsibility – He doesn’t care about his priorities anymore, goes out a lot and starts paying everything on credit and stays up late watching his favorite shows.
  • Too Much Reminiscing – He suddenly starts mumbling about what they did when they were on the concert and drinks around with some friends and whatever.
